Local Expertise
Plenty of Chesterfield homes came with a raised deck off the back, reached from the kitchen or the breakfast room, and they all went up around the same time. After twenty-odd years of Missouri summers and freeze-thaw winters it shows: boards gone gray and splintery, a rail that gives when you lean on it, and framing details no inspector would sign off on today.
The upside of a deck reaching this age is that you get to fix everything that never quite worked about it. Most of these went in as a standard builder plan, so a rebuild is usually the first time anyone has asked how you actually use the space: whether the stairs come off the right side, whether it needs to be wider for a table and chairs, what the rail should look like from the yard. We design around your answers and build it in materials that hold their color through Missouri summers.
The Product
Both materials build a good deck. The right answer depends on how much upkeep you want to sign up for and how long you plan to be in the house.
Chesterfield Specifics
Chesterfield’s walk-out and raised plans put decks a story up, which makes guard height, baluster spacing and ledger attachment safety items an inspector will check rather than preferences to debate.
West-facing Chesterfield backyards take the full force of the afternoon. Composite boards with cooler-toned caps and heat-managed surfaces stay comfortable underfoot through an August evening.
Missouri frost depth is unforgiving of shallow footings. Set them too high and the structure lifts and settles every spring. We set and verify footings to the local requirement so the deck stays where it was built.
What You Get
Permitted where required, with ledger, footing and guard details done to current requirements.
Layout planned around your door location, grade and how you actually use the space.
Hidden fasteners, clean fascia returns and stair geometry that feels right underfoot.
How It Works
We come out, measure, look at what is actually there, and give you a written price with no obligation.
You choose materials, colors and details with samples in hand, and we confirm everything before anything is ordered.
Our own crews do the work, keep the site clean, and walk the finished job with you before we call it done.
No pressure. Just solutions.

Questions
Most residential decks take one to two weeks depending on size, height and rail system. Footings and inspections set the schedule more than the carpentry does.
If you plan to stay more than a few years, usually yes: you stop paying for sealing and board replacement. If the budget is tight or the deck is small, treated lumber built well is still a good deck.
Most deck work in Chesterfield requires a permit, and raised decks are inspected for footing depth, ledger attachment and guard height. We handle the drawings and the permit process and schedule inspections around the build.
Sometimes. It depends what we find. Plenty of Chesterfield decks were built with footings that are sound, and plenty were not. We dig and check before committing, because reusing a marginal footing is how a new deck develops an old deck’s problems.
